Stenting of the right main bronchus due to tumor-related obstruction.
A 57-year-old male patient was referred by an oncologist for diagnostic fiberoptic bronchoscopy with biopsy, which was performed on February 23, 2026.
Two weeks later, he developed acute respiratory distress characterized by a sensation of suffocation and stridor. Chest radiography revealed complete atelectasis of the right lung, and bronchoscopy (March 16, 2026) demonstrated complete tumor-related obstruction of the right main bronchus.
Stenting of the right main bronchus was planned and performed on March 25. An 8 mm silicone stent (Novatech) was selected and successfully placed in the lumen of the right main bronchus. The patient remained hospitalized for one day and was discharged home in an improved condition.
